Quote of the day - December 23, 2007 #2

Charlotte and I went to Mr. Lee's house for a visit this morning. I was seated comfortably on the sofa, drinking my coffee. Charlotte was keeping herself busy running in circles and hiding behind pillows. Towards the end of our visit, Charlotte came over to the sofa, lifted the back of my shirt up a little and tugged on my belt. I asked her what she was doing.

Charlotte: "I'm checking for poop!"

We put on our coats and left shortly thereafter.

Quote of the day - December 16, 2007

Charlotte has eyes like a hawk. She can spot the moon from almost any location she may be. Whether it is in the car, at Gramma's house, or our backyard Charlotte is able to track the moon.

While driving home, down Pembina the other night Charlotte shouted "I see the moon. He's going to go get donuts."

I forgot to mention that Charlotte's brand recognition is ridiculous for a two year old. We were driving by Tim Horton's on Pembina when she spyed the moon.

Quote of the day - December 15, 2007

After a busy day of running errands, I looked into the back seat to check on Charlotte. She was being unusually quiet.



Me: "Charlotte, are you tired?"



Charlotte: "I ran outta steam."



Charlotte has been using this comment for quite some time. However, I'm pretty sure it's not an original thought. I think we may have "planted" this saying ourselves. But it's still entertaining, nevertheless.

Quote of the day - September 2, 2007

We spent most of today outside, doing yard work and enjoying the final days of summer. We had a huge mound of dirt dropped off last week. Charlotte calls it Dragon Mountain (idea borrowed from a Dora episode). She loves to stand barefoot in the mud, letting it squish between her toes. Today we had many shovels and tools scattered about the yard, necessitating the wearing of shoes by all family members.

Charlotte, standing next to Dragon Mountain demands, "Mommy, I need to put my feet on!"
Me: "You want to take your shoes off?"
Charlotte: "Yeah!"

Quote of the day - August 29, 2007

Charlotte has taken to shaking her finger at me, while saying "No Mommy. No!" This of course does not please me. However, I think Andrew secretly delights in hearing this. It reinforces his current status as #1 parent.

I was putting Charlotte to bed last night, after a particularly trying evening when she reached out to give me a hug and said "Mommy, I love y.......I need some socks". I just dropped to #3 in the ranking behind daddy and socks!

Song of the day - August 26, 2007

Let me set the scene.....It is a bright sunny afternoon at the playground. Charlotte is walking on the "balance beam". That is, she is walking on the wood beams that surround the play structure. She stops, and starts to sing......
"Baa Baa green sheep, have you any wool? Yes sir, yes sir, three bales full. One for mommy, one for Charlotte, and one for the pirate who lives down the lane! Baa baa green sheep, have you any wool? Yes sir, yes sir three bales full. Yeah for Charlotte. Baa baa yellow sheep..."
I have no idea where this version came from. Maybe they teach politically correct lyrics at school.

Quote of the day - July 31, 2007

It has been hot as sin in Winnipeg the last few weeks. Charlotte has spent many afternoons cooling off in her kiddie pool. And so has her mommy. Today was no different. We got home after school, Charlotte stripped down to her birthday suit and hopped into the pool. I did not feel like taking a dip, so I sat myself down on the deck to watch Charlotte swim. After a couple of minutes of swimming solo, Charlotte realized I was not in the pool and screeched..."MOMMY TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF!"

I would like to point out, that when mommy does go for a swim she wears her bathing suit.

Quote of the day - July 30, 2007

Big day! Charlotte went poop on her potty today. Of course, the poop needs to be flushed down the big people potty. Charlotte's potty is on the main floor. The only bathroom is on the second floor......

Charlotte: "Careful with the kaka!" she says as she's climbing the stairs, holding the potty full of poop.

Yet another example of Charlotte's independence.

Charlotte and I enjoyed a game of hide and seek after supper today.

Charlotte: "Count mommy!"

Me: "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. Ready or not here I come."

Charlotte pops out of her hiding spot, "Where's that girl?!"

Me: "There she is."

Charlotte: "Do it again mommy!"

Me: "1,2,3....." etc.

Charlotte hides. I count. There hasn't been any seeking yet, but we are working on it! We are also learning that kitty cats do not like to be rudely awoken and evicted from their cat house.

Charlotte's Dad has many kitschy tees. A favorite of Charlotte's is this Bob Ross number. Each time she sees the shirt she comments, "Bob's painting a picture". We will have to teach her to paint "Happy Trees" just like Bob.

We go to visit Gramma and Papa a couple of times a week. Papa still smokes and Gramma does not allow smoking in the house. The garage has been converted to the "smoking section". On one of our visits, Charlotte commented "Papa lives in the garage". If that doesn't make her Papa want to quit smoking, I don't think anything will.

Quote of the day - July 16, 2007

Mommy has relinquished some of her possessions and added them to the toy bin. One such treasure is from my bachelorette party.....oh get your mind out of the gutter. It's a crown. It's silver, with plastic gems and feathers. Very fetching.

Today Charlotte pulled this jewel from the toy box and said "put on your clown mommy". And so I did.

Charlotte has started to sing. She loves to sing along to her CD's. Her interpretations of the classics are spot on. My favorite, "Blah blah black sheep". After listening to her "Nursery Rhyme Time" CD play on continuous loop throughout the day, those are the exact lyrics I here too.

This morning Charlotte and I were enjoying reading "My Mom Loves Me More Than Sushi", by Filomena Gomes. This is a lovely book that talks about different foods from around the world. Megadarra is a tasty dish from Egypt. This is what you would have overheard.

Me: "Can you say Egypt"
Charlotte: "eatshit"
Me: "No, Eeegypppt"
Charlotte: "eeeatshit"

Charlotte may not be able to pronounce Megadarra from Egypt, but Smorgastarta from Sweden rolls easily off her tongue. Go figure.
